A rare French violin bow by Nicolas Leonard Tourte, c. 1795.

A rare French violin bow made by Nicolas Leonard Tourte, c. 1795 (with exception of a later button made in correct style). This is excellent example from this celebrated master’s work. The stick is dark red brown pernambuco of superior selection and figuration, frog and button are ebony with silver mountings. This is a superb sounding and handling bow. The length of the stick is 72.3 cm and the weight of the bow is 60.5 g. The bow is accompanied with certificate of authenticity by Isaac Salchow.
