French cello bow by Jean-Dominique Adam & Jean “Grand” Adam, ca. 1840, Tourte model
A rare, superb French cello bow made by Jean-Dominique Adam and his son “Grand Adam” ca. 1840 on Tourte model, branded “tourte” on the stick above the frog. This important bow comes from Etienne Vatelot collection and is in excellent state of preservation. The stick is golden brown pernambuco of superior choice, round, strong with a perfect flexibility, excellent handling and rarely beautiful, warm and large sound. The frog and button are ebony with silver mountings. This excellent example is suitable for a soloist. The length of the stick is 69.8 cm and the weight of the bow is 79 g. Highly recommended to a soloist or a collector.
