German cello bow by C.W. Knopf, ca. 1825
A superb old German cello bow made by Cristian Wilhelm Knopf ca. 1825. This is a wonderful example made with an inspiration of F.X. Tourte model. The stick is excellent quality orange brown pernambuco, octagonal, strong with a perfect balance and a first class tone. The frog and button are ebony with silver mountings and beautiful pearl decoration. The length of the stick is 71.3 cm, the weight of the bow is 83 g. This is a top level bow in excellent condition, suitable for a soloist, also a rare collector’s item.
