French violin bow made by Francois Xavier Bazin, ca. 1860.

A very fine French violin bow made by Francois Xavier Bazin, ca. 1860. F.X. Bazin was a fine and interesting bow maker. He was influenced (some sources suggest trained) by the great Dominique Peccatte. There are some strong stylistic and technical details pointing out to Francois close collaboration with Nicolas Simon. The stick is finest quality and figuration red brown amourette, the frog and button is ebony with nickel mountings. This is a very beautiful, fine level example in excellent state of preservation. The length of the stick is 72.8 cm and the weight of the bow is 62 g. This excellent bow is recommended to a fine musician seeking a good level mid 19th century French bow in moderate price range.
