German cello bow by Carl Heinrich Knopf for L. Bausch, ca. 1865
A very fine German cello bow made by Carl Heinrich Knopf for Ludwig Christian August Bausch sen. ca. 1865, branded “LEIPZIG BAUSCH” under the frog. Carl Heinrich Knopf was one of the best German bow makers who made some bows for Kittel and Bausch. His work is always very interesting and personal. This is a nice example, suitable for a finest player. This bow is in a very good state of preservation. The stick is 69.5 cm long and the weight of the bow is 80g.
