German violin bow made by Karl Wilhelm Knopf. ca. 1855
A fine old German violin bow made by Karl Wilhelm Knopf. ca. 1855, branded “C.W.KNOPF” on the stick under the frog. This is an excellent example in a fine state of preservation made with an inspiration of the great Tourte model. The stick is red brown pernambuco of superior choice, octagonal, strong with a very fine balanced. The sound is free and powerful with a beautiful charming character typical for best bows from this period. The length of the stick is 72.7 cm and the weight of the bow is 61.5.
