French violin bow by Francois Bazin made circa 1860.

A fine French violin bow made by Francois Xavier Bazin circa 1860 (with the button from the period). The bowmaking dynasty of important and highly esteemed Bazin family started with Francois Xavier Bazin (1824-1864) and continued with Charles Nicolas Bazin (1847-1915), Charles Louis Bazin (1881-1953), ended with Charles Alfred Bazin (1907-1987). The work of F. Bazin is very interesting, showing influence of Peccatte brothers and Simon family. This is a nice example and fine sounding/handling bow in a good state of preservation. The stick is fine dark red-brown amourette, round, strong with a nice flexibility, fine sound and handling; the frog and button are ebony with nickel mountings. The length of the stick is 72.1 cm and the weight is of the bow is 62 g. This bow is recommended to a player searching a good value and a fine level old French bow in a moderate price range.
