French violoncello bow made by J.J. Martin 1880.
A fine French cello bow made by Jean Joseph Martin ca. 1880 with modern (excellent) frog and button made for the stick. J.J. Martin was one of the important French bow makers, also a maker of fine bows for J.B. Vuillaume.
The stick is a fine medium brown pernambuco of superior choice, round, strong with a nice flexibility, excellent sound and fine balance/handling. The frog and button are ebony with silver mountings. The length of the stick is 69.2 cm and the weight is of the bow is 79 g. This is excellent sounding and handling example.
