French violin bow by Nicolas Joseph Harmand, ca. 1830

A rare, very French violin bow made by Nicolas Joseph Harmand, ca. 1830, branded on the stick above the frog “HARMAND”. This is a wonderful classical bow, made in personal style and also recalling in some details work of Pajeot and Lupot. The stick is fine dark chocolate pernambuco, octagonal, strong and flexible with a first class sound and excellent handling. The frog is ebony and silver, the button is ebony with two silver rings. This bow will please a collector or a great player who appreciate great old French bows of this period. The weight of the bow is 59 g.
