English violin bow by John Dodd, ca. 1825
A rare, superb English violin bow made by John Dodd ca. 1825. This is a particularly beautiful example comparable with finest French bows of the period. It in pristine state of preservation with all original parts including pearl inlays, slide, tip. The stick is golden brown pernambuco of superior quality and figuration, octagonal, 71.8 cm long and the weight of the bow with very light tinsel winding is 55.2 g. The frog and button are ebony with silver mountings. This is a first rank soloist bow, suitable for a finest musician or a demanding collector.
