German viola bow by Karl Wilhelm Knopf, ca 1845

A rare, very fine old German viola bow made by Karl Wilhelm Knopf ca. 1845. This is excellent, very interesting example made on the model that is recalling and similar to the model of the great Persoit. The stick is superb red brown pernambuco, octagonal, strong with excellent flexibility, first class sound and handling. The frog and button are ebony with silver mountings. The length of the stick is 74.5 cm and the weight of the bow is 68.5 g. The bow is in excellent state of preservation and highly recommended to a fine musician with preferences for the top level bows from early to mid 19th century.

Certificates: A. Gartsman
