German viola bow by H. Knopf for Bausch,1878, Tourte model

A very fine, rare German certified viola bow made by Heinrich Richard Knopf in Leipzig ca. 1877-1878, branded “L. BAUSCH” under the frog. This is beautiful example made in the style of F.X. Tourte, also wonderful sounding and handling bow, suitable for a finest musician. The length of the stick is 72.5 cm and the weight of the bow is 68 g. The stick is red brown pernambuco of excellent choice and figuration, round, strong with fine flexibility, good balance and very beautiful tone. The frog and button are ebony with silver mountings. The bow is in a very good state of preservation, ready to play.
