Italian violin by Otello Bignami 1978
A very fine Italian violin made by Otello Bignami in Bologna in 1978, as indicated on the label. The instrument is branded in several locations and has a golden inlay with maker’s initials on the button. This is a very charming and special instrument, also an outstanding example made(as maker points out on the label)as a tribute to Carlo Bisiach. The model is very interesting and probably based on a large Nicolo Amati pattern. It is a fine sounding instrument in excellent condition. The length over the back is 35.6 cm. This rare example is highly recommended to a collector or a very demanding, fine musician.
