French violin bow by Charles Peccatte, ca. 1875
A superb French violin bow made by Charles Peccatte ca. 1875 for the firm of Gand & Bernardel, branded “GAND & BERNARDEL”. This spectacular example was made on the most charming Charles Peccatte’s interpretation of the earlier F.X. Tourte model. The magnificent choice of pernambuco and every little detail of the workmanship points out great talent, wonderful taste and fantastic skills of the maker. The bow is in a very fine state of preservation and we highly recommend it to the soloist or a demanding collector. The length of the stick is 72.6 cm and the weight of the bow is 60 g.
