German violin bow by C.W. Knopf and C.F.W. Knopf, ca. 1835.
A very fine, rare German violin bow made by Christian Wilhelm Knopf in collaboration with his son, Christian Friedrich Wilhelm Knopf ca. 1835.
The stick is golden orange pernambuco of superior choice, octagonal, firm with a nice flexibility and fine balance. The frog and button are ebony with silver mountings. The length of the stick is 73.1 cm, the weight of the bow is 61 g. This is excellent playing bow, suitable for a fine musician. This rare, collector’s level example is in exceptionally fine state of preservation.
