French violin bow by Claude Joseph Fonclause, ca. 1855
A very fine French violin bow made by Claude Joseph Fonclause ca. 1855. The stick is excellent quality golden brown pernambuco with a very beautiful figuration, round with a fine flexibility, excellent tone and handling. The frog is ebony with nickel silver mountings. The button is ebony with two nickel silver rings. The length of the stick is 72.4 cm. The weight of the bow is 59 g. This is a fine example of the maker’s work in excellent state of preservation.
