French violin bow made by J.J. Martin, ca. 1875
A very fine French violin bow made by Jean Joseph Martin ca. 1875. This is a wonderful example, excellent sounding and handling bow with the general playing feeling towards Tourte bows. The stick is excellent choice of golden brown pernambuco with beautiful figuration, round in shape. The frog and button are ebony with silver mountings. The length of the stick is 73 cm and the weight of the bow is 60 g. This wonderful bow is recommended to a very fine musician with the preference to sound and pliability more typical for great French bows of the first half of 19th century.
