German violin bow by Johann Christoph Nurnberger for Richard Weichold, Dresden, ca. 1890
A very fine German violin bow made by Johann Christoph Nurnberger for Richard Weichold of Dresden ca. 1890. This is exceptionally beautiful example in all original including winding, pristine state of preservation. The bow is branded “R. WEICHOLD A DRESDE” and “IMITATION DE TOURTE” on both sides of the stick. The stick is excellent dark golden brown pernambuco, octagonal, strong with correct flexibility. The frog and button are ebony with silver mountings. The length of the stick is 72.7 cm and the weight of the bow with very light and original tinsel winding is 56 g. This is a great example and a superb sounding bow. It is highly recommended to a fine musician or a demanding collector.
