German violin bow made by Carl Heinrich Knopf in Berlin, ca.1870
A very fine German violin bow made by Carl Heinrich Knopf in Berlin, ca. 1870. It is slightly inspired with the style of Dodd, branded “DODD”, however, all typical and characteristic details of Heinrich Knopf work are present in a bold and expressive way. Heinrich Knopf was a great master and maker of fantastic bows for Bausch family and Nicolai Kittel. This is a superb sounding and handling example in excellent state of preservation. The length of the stick is 72.4 cm and the weight of the bow is 59.5 g. This bow is highly recommended for a demanding musician or a collector as a wonderful, rare, investment quality example.
