German violin bow made by J.W. Knopf ca.1860
A very fine German silver mounted violin bow with a tortoiseshell frog made by J.W. Knopf ca.1860 for the Bausch firm, branded “BAUSCH” on the stick above the frog. This is an outstanding, very special example of a superior quality, including choice of exceptional materials, finest workmanship and top level sound. The bow is in immaculate, collectors quality state of preservation. The sound and handling of this bow are of a first rank, suitable for a soloist. The length of the stick 72.5 cm and the weight of the bow with tinsel winding is 59.5 g.
