French cello by Francois Barbe Pere, ca. 1835

A very fine, old French cello made by Francois Jacques Barbe Pere ca. 1835, branded to the back, certified by J.J. Rampal in Paris. This is excellent example in a very fine condition with about 98% of the original varnish still retained. The length over the back is 74.8 cm. This is a great sounding concert cello with a broad model and a wonderful arching. The sound is of a very fine, charming quality with a superb projection power, depth and balance.
