German violin bow by Johann Wilhelm Knopf, ca. 1865
A very fine old German bow made by Johann Wilhelm Knopf ca. 1865 with inspiration of Tourte model for the shop of Weidlich, branded “WEIDLICH LEIPZIG” on the audience side of the facet and “TOURTE” on the players side of the facet. This is excellent example of the maker’s work in a very fine state of preservation. This is a wonderful sounding and handling bow. The length of the stick is 72.8 cm and the weight of the bow is 60 g.
