Italian violin by Alessandro Mezzadri. 1697
A very fine, rare Italian violin made by Alessandro Mezzadri in Ferrara in 1697, as indicated on original label. A. Mezzadri was a great, highly regarded master, also a very important classical maker of the period. This is a superb example of the maker’s work in a fine, fully restored condition. Magnificent back is formed artistically in four pieces, the original varnish is of a wonderful texture and appearance. The tone of this instrument is of a rare beauty, top level, suitable for a soloist or a leader of the orchestra.
