A rare old Italian viola by Bartolomeo Bimbi, Florence, 1793

A very fine, rare old Italian viola made by Bartolomeo Bimbi in Florence in 1793, as indicated on the label. This is a wonderful, solo level instrument with a charming, very beautiful voice. Despite a smaller 15 inch length over the back it is built with taller ribs and excellent arching, making the sound production of a fine quality with a great depth and a proper diapason from a nice bass to a silvery upper register. This comfortable to play fine instrument is highly recommended to a leader of a chamber orchestra.

Certificates: J.J. Rampal, Paris.
