French violin bow made by Louis Gillet ca. 1950. Louis Henry Gillet was born in Nancy and most likely received his initial training in Mirecourt. After working for Jerome Thibouville-Lamy and later Labert, Gillet moved sometimes before 1930 to Chalon-sur-Saone (soth of Dijon) where he orginized his own shop. During the period of 1934-1946 Louis Henry Gillet was hired as assistant of Eugene Sartory. This long and successful collaboration is well reflected in many bows produced during this time.

This remarkable example in a very fine and pure condition. The stick is influenced by Peccatte model. It is made of a superior choice, nicely flamed pernambuco, octagonal, firm with a perfect flexibility and a high level sound and handling. The frog is ebony and silver, the button is ebony with silver cap.
