French violin bow by Nicolas Maline, ca. 1860
A very fine French violin bow made by Nicolas Maline ca. 1860-1865, branded on the stick above the frog “MALINE”. The stick is golden brown pernambuco, the frog is ebony with silver mountings, the button is ebony and silver. This is a top level example in a good state of preservation with some natural wear from playing. It is an outstanding sounding and handling bow, suitable for a soloist. The length of the stick is 72.6 cm and the weight of the bow is 60 g.
