French violin bow made by Jean Joseph Martin ca. 1870.

A very fine French violin bow made by Jean Joseph Martin ca. 1870, branded “PECCATTE” (authentic D. Peccatte brand) to the audience side on top of the frog . This is excellent example in a very good state of preservation. The stick is red brown pernambuco of superior selection, round in shape. The frog and button are ebony with silver mountings. The length of the stick is 72.7 cm and the weight of the bow is 58 g with (probably original, light) tinsel winding. This is high level playing bow, suitable for a fine and demanding musician.
