German violin bow made by Johann Wilhelm Knopf ca. 1900.

A very fine German violin bow made by Johann Wilhelm Knopf (1835-1912) ca. 1900 on Tubbs model. Son of C.W. Knopf Jr., Johann Wilhelm was trained probably by his uncle Christian Friedrich Knopf. J.W. Knopf was a great master who produced high quality, beautiful bows (mostly inspired by Tourte model).  This is a nice and characteristic example and excellent sounding/handling violin bow. The bow is in a fine state of preservation. The stick is red brown pernambuco of superb choice and figuration, round, the frog and button are ebony with silver mountings The length of the stick is 72.8 cm and the weight of the bow is 58 g (with light tinsel winding).
