French cello bow by Georges Frederic Schwartz, ca. 1835

A rare French cello bow made by Georges Frederic Schwartz (1785-1850) circa 1840. This is a masterpiece from a classical old French bowmaker whose specially cello bows are among the very best from the period. The bow is in all original, excellent state of preservation. The stick is dark red brown pernambuco of superior choice. The frog and button are ebony with silver mountings. The length of the stick is 69.8 cm and the weight of the bow is 79 g.
This great sounding bow can be a nice addition to a fine performer or a collector.
