A rare German viola bow made by Christian Friedrich Wilhelm Knopf ca.1855. Christian Friedrich Wilhelm Knopf was the youngest son of a great German bow maker Chirstian Wilhelm senior. C.F.W. Knopf became a wonderful bow maker and played an important part in the training of his nephews Johann Wilhelm Knop and Calrl Heinrich Knopf.
This is a superb example made with inspiration of great French contemporary makers Etienne Pajeot and Nicolas Maire. The bow is in excellent and original state of preservation. The length of the stick is 73.2 cm and the weight of the bow is 70 g. The bow is certified by Isaac Salcow in New York.
