French gold mounted violin bow by Georges Frederic Schwartz, ca. 1835-1840.
A rare, superb French gold mounted violin bow made by Georges Frederic Schwartz c. 1835-1840. This is a masterpiece from the great classical old French master made with inspiration of a fantastic Tourte model. This bow is in a good condition with some restorations. The stick is red brown pernambuco of superior choice, octagonal in shape. The original frog and button are ebony with gold mountings. The length of the stick is 72.4 cm and the weight of the bow is 59 g. This strong concert level example is highly recommended to a very fine musician.
