French viola bow by Francois Xavier Bazin made circa 1860.

A rare, very fine French viola bow made by Francois Xavier Bazin circa 1860. This is a very nice example from an important French bow maker, the head of the celebrated Bazin family. F. Bazin’s style was mostly influenced by the work of Peccatte (also some examples are reminiscent of the Simon Fr model). This personal style modeled viola bow is a superb playing example, firm, powerful, elegant with a broad range of colors, suitable for a finest musician. The bow is in an excellent (practically unused) state of preservation. The length of the stick is 72.6 cm, the weight is 70 g.
