A very fine French violin bow made by Jean Joseph Martin ca. 1880. This is excellent example in a very fine condition from an important bow maker of the second half of 19th century. J.J. Martin was a prolific and competent craftsman who was responsible for a large quantity of very good bows made for the J.B. Vuillaume firm. The stick is fine dark red-brown pernambuco, round in shape. The frog and button are ebony with nickel-silver mountings. The length of the stick is 73.1 cm and the weight of the bow is 60 g. This is a fine playing bow, suitable for a demanding musician.
