German fine violin bow made by Johann Christian Suess for Weichold firm ca. 1870.
A very fine German violin bow made by Johann Christian Suess circa 1870 for the Weichold firm, branded on the player’s side above the frog “R. WEICHOLD A DRESDEN” and “IMITATION TOURTE” on the audience side. This is a beautiful example in a fine state of preservation. The stick is dark red-brown pernambuco, octagonal, strong with a nice flexibility, fine balance and excellent sound. The length of the stick is 72.7 cm and the weight of the bow is 63 g (with sterling silver winding). This bow is a nice example, suitable for a fine musician.
