German violin bow made by Johann Wilhelm Knopf ca. 1865.

A very fine German violin bow made by Johann Wilhelm Knopf (1835-1912) ca. 1865. Son of C.W. Knopf Jr., Johann Wilhelm was trained probably by his uncle Christian Friedrich Knopf. J.W. Knopf was a great master who produced high quality, beautiful bows (mostly inspired by Tourte model).  This is excellent and characteristic example made on personal Tourte inspired model. The bow is in a fine state of preservation and it is a wonderful playing bow. The stick is red brown pernambuco, octagonal, the frog and button are ebony with silver mountings The length of the stick is 72.5 cm and the weight of the bow is 58 g.
