French violin bow made by Charles Peccatte (1850-1918) in Paris c. 1880. Charles Peccatte was son of Francois Peccatte and nephew of Dominique Peccatte. Charles began his apprenticeship with his step father Auguste Lenoble in1862 and continued his work and learning experience during 1865-1870 in the firm of J.B. Vuillaume under direction of F.N. Voirin. Charles Peccatte worked until 1918, having several assistants from around the turn of the century, including Eugene Sartory.
This is a very fine example in excellent, pure and all original (including head plate) state of preservation. The length of the stick is 72.4 cm and the weight of the bow is 59.5 g (with silk/tinsel winding). This is also a wonderful playing bow, producing colorful, refined and focused sound.
