German violin bow made by Christian Wilhelm Knopf ca. 1837.
A fine old German violin bow made by Christian Wilhelm Knopf ca. 1837 probably in some collaboration with his son, Christian Friedrich Wilhelm Knopf. This is a nice and interesting example in a very fine and pure state of preservation. The stick is octagonal, strong with a perfect balance, excellent sound and handling. The frog and button are ebony with inlaid shield shape pearl. The length of the stick is 72.4 cm, the weight of the bow is 56 g (with very light silk/tinsel winding). This is wonderful bow, suitable for a fine player or a demanding collector.
