A fine German violin bow made by Johann Wilhelm Knopf (1835-1912) ca. 1870. Son of C.W. Knopf Jr., Johann Wilhelm was trained probably by his uncle Christian Friedrich Knopf. J.W. Knopf was a great master who produced high quality, beautiful bows (mostly inspired by Tourte model). This is a good example made on a personal model. This fine sounding and handling example is in excellent state of preservation. The stick is red brown pernambuco, round, the frog and button are ebony with nickel-silver mountings The length of the stick is 72.65 cm and the weight of the bow is 58 g.
