French violin bow made by Barthelemy Simon for J.B. Vuillaume, ca. 1860.

A very fine, rare French violin bow made by Barthelemy Simon ca. 1860, branded “VUILLAUME A PARIS”. The stick is dark red brown pernambuco, round, strong with a nice flexibility; the frog and button are ebony with Vuillaume style silver mountings. The length of the stick is 72.4 cm and the weight of the bow is 60 g (with probably an original tinsel winding). The bow is in a fine state of preservation.
This is an excellent, high level bow that is suitable for a fine musician. The bow is certified by Isaac Salchow in New York.
